It would be hard to talk about American middle distance running without bringing Steve Holman’s name into the conversation. Through out the 1990’s he was consistently among America’s best milers and the best performer the United States had in Europe in the 1500 and mile run. In 1997 he became the 3rd fastest American ever in the 1500 with a blistering time of 3:31.52.

While at Richfield High School in Richfield, MN Steve figured he was to small for football and soccer so he decided to join the track team to make his mark. He started out more as a distance runner opting for the longer 3200-meter event. By his sophomore year he ran a solid 10:10. Sensing his real talent was in the middle distance arena he started running more of the 1600 and 800-meter events in his junior year. That’s when Steve’s talent really started to blossom. That year he won the Minnesota State Championship in the 1600 (4:14.6). He capped off a great high school career by winning both the 800 and 1600 at the Minnesota State Championship with times of 1:50.5 and 4:09.26. After high school Steve took his talents to Georgetown University where he won multiple Big East Championships and a NCAA title in the 1500.

Steve’s highly decorated post-collegiate career includes the Olympic Games, the World Indoor and Outdoor Championships, U.S. Indoor and Outdoor titles and the third fastest all-time performance for an American at 1500 meters (3:31.52). You could say Steve Holman has done it all.

Steve is currently studying for his MBA at the prestigious Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He resides in Philadelphia with his wife Teresa and their 10-month old daughter Chloe.
